In 2019 Leigh Heritage Centre conducted Oral History sessions with Cultural Engine and Age Exchange, these will be published very soon, please look out for your copy in the Heritage Centre & Museum on the High Street, Old Leigh.
The oral history sessions that took place in September 2019 gave an opportunity for people to contribute their memories of Old Leigh. The Leigh Heritage Centre led on the ‘Revealing the Maritime History of Leigh-on-Sea’ project working in partnership with Age Exchange and the Cultural Engine. The project offered the opportunity for anyone with memories or family histories that relate to the maritime and fishing industries of Leigh-on-Sea to share them.
This important project was conducted so they can be preserved for future generations. Those that attended were able to share their stories and brought along relevant artefacts and photos at two workshops at Leigh Heritage Centre in September.
